In Figure 1, you have three options available to configure MonitorWare Agent, these options are listed below:

1). Configure MonitorWare Agent as a Reporting Agent for MonitorWare Console
2). Configure MonitorWare Agent as a Central Agent for MonitorWare Console
3). I don't want to configure MonitorWare Agent now

Note: If you click on Cancel, you can configure the application manually later on. Keep my current configuration intact option; it helps you keep your current settings in case you are updating from an older version of MonitorWare Agent.

Option 1: Reporting Agent for MonitorWare Console

If you select this option the Next button at the middle bottom gets enabled. When you Click on Next, you have to give the SETP Server name in which MonitorWare Agent compatible database is resided.

In this option, when you are setting up MonitorWare Agent in oder to use it with MonitorWare Console generating Windows reports, it is necessary to use the SETP option. This is due to the format of the stored data in the database required by MonitoWare Console, for this reason Central SETP Server option is greyed and already selected. The other two options that are Syslog Server and Local Windows Event Monitor are optional.

When you click on Next button, you are shown a form as shown blow:

This form has certain text fields, buttons and a checkbox. Database Logging option is greyed and selected by default as it is mandatory to log in data to generate reports on it.

DSN
This field is mandatory. This points to the DSN of the database which stores all the data/settings related to the MontitorWare Console . And later on this works as the underlying database to which MonitorWare Console is connected.

User Name

The user name for the database. If you have generated the DSN using Windows Authentication, then you don't need to enter any thing in this field.

Password

The password for the database. If you have generated the DSN using Windows Authentication, then you don't need to enter any thing in this field.

Enable Encryption

If the "Enable Encryption" check box is checked, a weak symetrical encryption is applied on the password. Thus, we highly recommend to create a specific account with very limited permissions, if you store a password while writing to database. This account does only need to have "select" permissions.

Data Sources

This button is used to configure Data Source Name (DSN).

Create Database

This button is used to configure database and to create a table within the database.

Option 3: I don't want to configure MonitorWare Agent now

If you are not interested configuring the application now, you select this option and click Finish. You see a screen as shown in figure 3. To configure the application manually you have to go to Tools menu of Main Menu bar within the application and have to select MonitorWare Configuration Wizard menu item, this starts the configuration wizard again.

Note: if you once enter into application interface with any of these options selected, you do not get this screen on application startup. To reconfigure the application you have to go to Tools menu of Main Menu bar within the application and have to select MonitorWare Configuration Wizard menu item, screen shot displayed below:
